This is a fun part of the Roger Holloway Story, as I took off from Charlotte to five fun days chasing down amazing food and music. Though I’d seen Felix Cavaliere live in an All-Star band, I’d never seen The Rascals live. And since at age 76, I no longer want to drive 9-10 hours to get back to Indiana or Ohio, I made my customary midpoint overnight in Charleston, West Virginia. This is especially fun since I discovered 1010 Bridge and Paulie’s Authentic Italian.
Michael Symon’s Mabels BBQ was my lunch date in Cleveland, then on to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a couple of hours. And then it really got good upon arriving in Warren, Ohio, just across from the Trumbull County Courthouse park of 4.5 acres. Staying at the same hotel that The Ides of March were staying in anchored my connection.
The sound check experience was quite amazing, then on to assist Felix Cavaliere score a few signature caps at Howard’s just a block away was really satisfying. Then the concert! And to top it all of the next morning at the continental breakfast, chatting with a few of the band members, yeah. It’s fun talking about rock and roll to those who’ve been doing it for decades. So enjoy the video of me telling the story, it’s part of my story.
